Orientation program experience

I have been staying in hostel for past 12 years of my life. But the place was different this time. I have joined Pune Institute of Business Management on 25^th June 2015 and this was the first time I came to Pune. The foundation course of the 2^nd batch started from June 25^th and it has been one month. I will share my experiences about the orientation program.

The orientation was meant to share and impart knowledge about the business environment and what the students will go through the upcoming years. Within this one month we were exposed to new information.

The first is the communication skills and aptitude training. The students were divided into groups and trained in these fields, in order to have in-depth knowledge as the industry requires students with good communication and analytical skills.

Apart from the sessions on marketing, accounting and human resources there were various corporate interactions, where the corporate of different companies visited and share information on the current business environment and trends. We had industrial visits to different companies like Whirlpool, Fiat Automobiles, Tata ASAL and Haier appliances. We knew the actual working condition of the industry and many business related topics like inventory, GDP, CSR, etc.

The students were involved in presentations of the industrial visit and other presentations. These were recorded and shared with the students in order to improve the area of weakness. I have also participated in the presentation many times. There was a cultural activity and sport day to involve the students in extracurricular activities. These were organized by the students themselves.

There is famous saying “healthy mind exists in healthy body” and by going through this there are aerobics and gym facilities for students in order to cope up with the changing environment and to be fit.

The overall Business Orientation Program was beneficial for me as it helped to improve in many areas of communication, aptitude and so on. The kind of effort the institute is making shows the optimism and this will

surely help all those associated with the institute. The students are groomed in order to meet the industry standards hence I had a good experience and learning environment.
